Ima Dene (Lay) Amos, 90, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 1, 1925, in Appleton, Ark., as the daughter of Thara and Clara E. (Loveland) Lay. She was married to K.R. Amos for over 42 years.

Ima Dene most recently worked for Walmart in Greenfield for many years. She also worked for Dorothy’s Dress Shop, L.S. Ayres, Lazarus and part owner of Babyteen & Marlissa Stores.  Mrs. Amos was a member of Greenfield Christian Church where she was a former preschool teacher.  Ima Dene was also a 50 year member of the Greenfield Rotary Club.  She loved gardening, growing flowers especially her roses, and loved her animals.

Ima Dene is survived by her son, Thomas Amos of Greenfield; daughters, Susan Bailey and Sharon Johnson both of Greenfield; brother, James Lay of Ark.; sister, Nell Byland of Beech Grove, Ind.; four grandchildren, Cheryl, Stephanie, David, and Richard; nine great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Kenny, Ronnie, Nicole, Jesse, Chelsea, Terrie, Alexis, and Maddy; and six great-great-grandchildren, Halee, Victoria, Veronica, Bradlynn, Reace, and Julia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thara and Clara E. (Loveland) Lay; husband, K.R. Amos; and a sister, Betty Adams.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.  A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, also at the mortuary. Reverend Frank Everett will be officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Ind.
