Pearl Covher Wyant

Pearl Covher Wyant, 95, passed away Jan. 1, 2015. She married Wince W. Covher in June 1938.

He became an ordained minister in 1940, and they pastored churches in Missouri, Indiana, Virginia, and West Virginia until he passed away in 1997. As part of the ministry, she formed a rhythm band for small children, and a junior choir for older children. She found a loving home for two young children whose remaining parent was soon to die, and opened her home to a teen who was forced to choose between living at home or worshiping God.

“Miss Pearl”, as she became known in later years, majored in education and graduated from Hannibal La Grange in 1955 with honors, B.S. Butler University in 1961, and in 1973 a Masters, Suma Cum Laude from Ball State University. She taught school in Missouri, Indiana, Virginia, and West Virginia teaching grades 1 through 8. In Jan. 2002, she married Roy Wyant.

Pearl Covher Wyant is survived by a sister, Mary Alice McEnroe, and a brother, Dr. O. Lee Baker. She has three children, Carolyn Treaster Bloomhuff, Winston R. Wayne Covher, and Alice Marie Settle. There are 6 grandchildren, David W. Treaster, Gina S. Treaster, Daniel M. Treaster, Howard W. Settle, Corbin W. Covher, and Amanda L. Adams and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140 with viewing immediately before the service for friends and family.
