Robert L. "Bob" Sanders, 88, of Gwynneville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Shelby County, the son of Gillard and Bertha (Riggs) Sanders.
Bob was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Phyllis M. Boque; daughter, Nancy (J. Mark) Stevens of Lafayette; sister, Helen Sullivan of Columbus; brother, Don (Jessie) Sanders of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Zelma Tucker of Shelbyville; 9 nephews; and 3 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katherine Warfield; and brothers, Tom Sanders and Clarence Sanders.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, with military graveside services conducted by the local military committee.
