Richard Charles VanCleave, Sr., 59, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Feb. 10, 1955, in Anderson, Ind., as the son of Jack Lee VanCleave and Katherine (Delong) Hamm.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard VanCleave, Jr. of Indianapolis; mother, Katherine (Delong) Hamm of Cumberland; siblings, Jackie VanCleave of Indianapolis, Douglas Hamm of Anderson, Carolyn Smith of Celina, Tenn., Sharon Noel of Greenfield, Diane (Phillip Sr.) Smith of Celina, Tenn., and Joyce VanCleave of Indianapolis; 11 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lee VanCleave; step-father, Gene Hamm; and nephew, Jeff Messersmith.
Visitation will be held from 11 until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.
