James “Jim” E. Selvidge, 86, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug. 4, 1928, in New Castle, as the son of Edward and Susie (Alexander) Selvidge. He graduated from New Castle High School. Jim married Evelyn J. (Biddle) Bowman on June 16, 1963, in New Castle.
He worked for Firemans Fund Insurance for many years before retiring in the early 1980’s. He also worked for Chrysler for many years. Jim loved bowling and even bowled a 300 game, he also loved gardening and working outside. He attended Trinity Park United Methodist Church.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Selvidge of Greenfield; children, Donna (Pat) Harrington of Greenfield, Darrell “D.B” (Sandy) Bowman of Charlottesville, Dennis (Ruby) Bowman of Greenfield, Bryan Selvidge of Brownsburg, Ind., and Brent Selvidge of Indianapolis; brother, Forrest “Punk” (Gloria) Selvidge of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Chris, Lisa, Robbie, Darren, Sara, Emily, Chelsea, Alicia, and Jordan and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Susie (Alexander) Selvidge; daughter, Pam Selvidge; siblings, Jean Rutherford, Polly Goodwin, Stanley Selvidge, and Bill Selvidge.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation. Pastor Ed Selvidge will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
