Mildred “Amanda” Phelps, 99, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully Oct. 14, 2014, at Crown Pointe of Greenfield. She was born on Feb. 21, 1915, in Mantorville, Minn.

She was an insurance underwriter for American-Hardware Mutual in Minneapolis, Minn., until her retirement when they moved to Arkansas and lived for 20 years. She then moved to Greenfield where she lived for 21 years. She moved to Crown Pointe of Greenfield in 2013. Her hobbies were playing bridge, sewing, was a committed die-hard fan of the Indiana Pacers, and bowled until her mid 90’s.

She is survived by 14 nieces and nephews; one stepdaughter; three stepgrandchildren; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mathilda Tvedt; husband of 57 years, Ted; two sisters; three brothers; one niece; two nephews; and one stepdaughter.

A special thank you to the executive director and staff for the loving and attentive care she received and for the many friendships she made as a resident at Crown Pointe.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.  A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice or to St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
