Rev. Jerald (Jerry) T. Cooney, 87, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Oct. 19.  Jerry was born in Greenfield, on July 18, 1927, the son of Edwin L. and Nellie E. (Scott) Cooney. Jerry was married in 1945 to Frances Joan Wickliff of Greenfield.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Joan of the home, his six children: James T. and his wife, Shirley of Copperas Cove, Texas, Judith A. Skaare and her husband, Keith, of Williston, North Dakota, Jeffery S. and his wife, Paula, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jonathan D.  and his wife Linda, of Westerville, Ohio, Jackie R. of Springfield, and Javan L. and his wife, Suzanne, of Ava, Missouri. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law in Indiana:  Phyllis Cooney of Knightstown, Rosenell Cooney of Brownsburg, and Victoria Cooney of  Milton,  brothers-in-law, Larry Maxwell of Greenfield, Indiana, Harry Taylor, of Grinnell, Iowa, sister-in-law Donna Wickliff, Santa Fe, New Mexico, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of good friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, Joseph of Knightstown, James of Brownsburg, Ind., Jack of Connersville, Jan of Greenfield; his sister, Asenath A. Taylor; granddaughter, Cara Jean Cooney of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers-in-law, Chester Wickliff of Greenfield, and David Wickliff of Santa Fe, N.M.; and sister-in-law, Barbara (Wickliff) Maxwell of Greenfield.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in Springfield, Mo., at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Pathways United Methodist Church, Springfield, Mo. A private service of inurnment of ashes will be in the local Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo.
