Willie Pitts, 80, of New Palestine, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Feb. 14, 1934, in Prestonsburg, Ky., as the son of Tommie and Lucy (Prater) Pitts.  He served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Glenda D. (Phillips) Pitts on Sept. 4, 1954, in Indianapolis.

He worked for Ford as a Quality Controller for 38 years before retiring in 1995. Mr. Pitts was a member of the Hancock Masonic Lodge #101, Post #119 American Legion and was on the drill team and Philadelphia United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and motorcycle riding. Above all else, he dearly loved his family.

Willie is survived by his wife, Glenda; children, Joni M. Pitts, and husband Matt Ivanisevic of New Palestine and Lisa R. Honeycutt, and husband Benjamin of Greenfield; brother, Mitchell (Mary) Pitts of Ada, Ohio; sisters, Barbara (Harold) Sutherly of Ada, Ohio and Vera (Joe) McCreery of Liberty, Ohio; three grandchildren, Rachel Honeycutt, Gabrielle (Justin) Cruser and Tyler (Faith) Honeycutt; and two great-grandchildren, Adelyn Cruser and Jax Cruser.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Forrest Pitts and Herman Pitts; and sister, Pauline Joseph.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 2439 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
