Samuel Messer, Jr., 62, of Fortville, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 3, 1952, in Beech Grove to Samuel H. Messer, Sr. and Irene J. (Bockover) Messer and was a graduate of Avon High School.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Hazel (Longfellow) Messer; sons, Scott (Cheryl) Messer and Samuel (Jamie) Messer, both of Fortville; 4 grandchildren; sister, Ann Bacon of Indianapolis; stepsisters, Jane Gaskins of Florida and Carol Toon of Plainfield; 2 nephews; 1 niece and other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Sue Witt.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A Celebration of Sam’s life will take place at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at the funeral home.
