Robert “Bob” E.H. Miller, 82, of Greenfield, passed away Oct. 10, 2014, at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born on Feb. 16, 1932, in Weigh Scales, Pa., as the son of Earl Leroy and Ada Gladys (Herman) Miller. Bob served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Joyce Elaine (Headlee) on Sept. 17, 1960, at the Greenfield Christian Church.

He graduated from Shamokin High School in Shamokin, Pa., in 1949. Mr. Miller attended Muhlenberg College and received his Bachelors in Education from University of Wyoming in 1957. He received his Masters in Physical Education from Indiana University while on the coaching staff of the IU Football team.

Bob worked for Greenfield and Greenfield Central High School as a teacher and a coach for 36 years before retiring in 1994. He was football coach and he started the wrestling and golf programs. Mr. Miller was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and a member of the choir. He was a 50 year member of the Hancock Masonic Lodge #101, Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, was a member of the Knights Templar and was on the drill team. Bob was also a member of the 82nd Airborne Association, Greenfield Elks Club, Cowboy Joe Club and Wyoming Alumni Association and a member of the Greensburg Area Emmaus Community. Bob served the city of Greenfield as a 20 year member of the Greenfield City Council. He enjoyed football, watching the Colts, IU, fishing and hunting, golfing, playing cards, traveling to Europe, Wyoming and Canada, coaching, singing, and most importantly spending time with his family.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; son, Bob (Kristine) Miller of Anderson; daughter, Jeri (Joe) Smith of Greenfield; sister, Miriam (Floyd) Brown of Hughesville, Pa.; two grandchildren, Charley and Jaye Smith; two aunts; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Brenda Diane Miller.

Visitation will be from 3 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 North East Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Frank Everett will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military rites.
