Donna Lee Oler, 98, a long time Hagerstown area resident, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, in Lebanon, Ky., where she had made her home for the past several years. She was born in Lewis County, Ky., on March 24, 1916, the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Elizabeth (Roe) Stephens. She lived most of her life in the Hagerstown area.

Donna devoted her life to raising foster children. Over the 30 year span of her career, she provided love and care for 137 children.  She also worked with helping troubled adults transition to normal homes.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Coleman (James); three grandchildren, Michael Brian Ringley (Elizabeth), Dawn Lambert and Annette Copenhaver; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Michael Copenhaver, Ariel Rose Ringley, Alexander James Copenhaver and Chase Lambert; two sisters, Ruby Dockter and Opal Lewman; two half brothers; two stepbrothers and 15 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Oler; siblings, Otto K. Stephens, U.S. Army Sgt., 2nd Ranger Unit, Homer F. Stephens, Bertha LaFountain, Mary Helms and Tiny Stephens and a great- granddaughter, Stormy Rose Ringley.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014, in Culberson Funeral Home. Jeff Thayer will officiate. Burial will be in Economy Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, and one half hour prior to services on Wednesday.

The family requests that memorials be made to any Veteran's Administration Hospital or American Cancer Society.
