Joseph Leroy Wright, 88, of Tavares, Fla., passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2014. He was born on July 26, 1926, in Bristol, Va., as the son of Clifford and Amanda Wright.
He is a veteran of the Air Force. He graduation for Milligan College in Milligan, Tenn., and received his Master of Divinity from Butler Theological Seminary. He married Phyllis (Williams) on Aug. 19, 1950.
He ministered in eight churches in three states and concluded his 45 years of ministry as Chaplain at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, Fla. Leroy was an active member and elder of Adventure Christian Church in Tavares, Fla.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Williams) Wright of Tavares, Fla.; children, Stephen (Beverly) Wright of Fla., Sidney (Nancy) Wright of Fla., Mark (Donna) Wright of Tenn., and Deborah (Mark) Clark of Indiana; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis Jane Helton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Amanda Wright; and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Poplar Ridge Christian Church, Piney Flats, Tenn.
