Charles R. Karnes, Sr., 75, of Manilla, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born Feb. 25, 1939, in Indianapolis, the son of Vertis and Myrtle (Smith) Karnes.
He married Connie Munden on May 13, 1960, and she preceded him in death on May 5, 1998.
Survivors include his sons, Charles (Debora) Karnes, Jr. of Gwynneville, David (Tammy) Karnes of Manilla and Thomas (Cheryl) Karnes of Shelbyville; daughters, Tammie Fuchic of St. Paul and Beth Duvall of Manilla; brother, Allan (Margaret) Karnes of Shelbyville; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at the funeral home, with Pastor Charles Justus officiating. Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Community Church in Manilla.
