Leland Bryan Williams, 74, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at his home. He was born on April 2, 1940, in Des Arc, Ark., as the son of Hubert and Vernie (Parker) Williams.

He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1958 and earned two Associate’s Degrees from Vincennes University. He married Geraldine Fleming on July 27, 1963 in Maxwell, Ind.

Leland proudly served in the U.S. Military for 21 years. He enlisted in the Marines in 1958 in which he served eight years. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and retired as Master Sergeant in 1980. He also retired from the Army Soldier Support Center.

Leland is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Greenfield; son, Bryan (Stefanie) Williams, of Louisville, Ky.; daughter, Dee Ann (Randy) Adams, of Greenfield; granddaughter, Brooke Williams of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Aubrey Williams of Port Charlotte, Fla.; sisters, Leta Hendrick of Springfield, Mo., and Carolyn Lopez of Noblesville; as well as many nephews and nieces and sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Vernie Williams; and brother, Andrew (A.B.) Williams.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery with full military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
