Doug M. Hare, 64, of New Palestine, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, surrounded by his family. Doug was born in Huntington, Ind., on Oct. 4, 1949, to the late Dale and Edith (Brooks) Hare.

Doug proudly served his country with the Army during the Vietnam War in Korea.

On Dec. 5, 1970, he married the love of his life, Lynn (Frazier) Hare.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, of 43 years, Lynn (Frazier) Hare of New Palestine; daughter, Dawn (Lee) Johnson and grandsons, Clayton, Connor and Colten. Daughter, Tina (Wes) Sumner and grandsons, Jay and Dustin; and stepgrandkids Taylor, Ashley and Chris. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn  Caldwell; nephew, Greg (Leslie) Hare and their family. Brother, David (Lynn) Hare and their daughters, Koby Vest, Heidi Pierce, Dedra Leisure and Darci Leisure and their families.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Dale & Edith Hare; father-in-law, Jack Frazier; and his niece, Holly Hare.

Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at the Dunnichay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Army Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion of New Palestine or the National Lung Association.
