Eva Rae (Christopher) Smalley, 49, of Fountaintown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014. She was born on April 27, 1965, in Clinton, Okla., as the daughter of Jerry Christopher and Sharon (Neeriemer) Christopher-Hamilton.

She graduated from Morristown High School in 1983. Eva received her Bachelor’s from Indiana University School of Nursing at Indianapolis in 1987. She married Mark A. Smalley on April 30, 1988, at Fountaintown Christian Church.

She was a Registered Nurse and an Aquatic Instructor at the Hancock Regional Wellness Center. She was an active member of Fountaintown Christian Church. She was a longtime volunteer for Campus Life and New Palestine schools.

She loved serving people in the simplest ways by helping them out with everyday tasks of life. Eva was a friend of everyone and a caregiver to the world. She enjoyed being a full-time mother, wife and aunt. To have known her is to have seen as clear a reflection of Jesus Christ as is possible this side of Heaven.

Eva is survived by her loving husband, Mark A. Smalley of Fountaintown; two daughters, Hannah Enochs, and husband, of Indianapolis and Addison Smalley of Fountaintown; father, Jerry Christopher, and wife Betty, of Indianapolis; mother, Sharon (Neeriemer) Christopher-Hamilton, and husband Bud, of Morristown; brother, Sean Christopher, and wife Heather, of New Palestine; father-in-law, Ron Smalley, and wife Marianne, of Morristown; sister-in-law, Christina Smalley, and husband Clint Hedges, of Spokane, Wa.; brother-in-law, Chris Smalley, and wife Deborah, of Shelbyville; and nieces and nephews, Brandon, Evan, Mitchell, Marita, Tyler, and Cole.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Dorothy Haseman.

Visitation will be held from 3 until 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Brookville Road Community Church, 7480 U.S. 52, New Palestine, IN 46163. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014, also at the church. Pastor Joshua R. Hahn will be officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
