Norris Wayne Howard, 93, of Madison, Ind. Norris died on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at 1:50 p.m. at his daughters home in North Vernon, Ind. He entered this life on Feb. 27, 1921, in Switzerland County, Ind.
Norris was enlisted in the United States Navy on Nov. 18, 1942, in Indianapolis. He rose to the rate of Seaman First Class during World War II and was honorably discharged on Aug. 25, 1945, from Great Lakes, Ill.
Survivors: daughters, Susan Howard Schafer of North Vernon, Ind., Jane (Robert ) Wakeland of Greenfield, his loving son, John N. Howard and his partner, Dr. Fred McCall of San Francisco, Calif.; his stepgrandchildren, Brent (Jenny) Wakeland, Laura (Ronnie) Moore; his great-stepgrandchildren, Daisy, Declan, Austin & Abigail.
Friends may call Sunday from 4 – 7 p.m. and Monday from Noon until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2014, by the Rev. Donald F. Locke, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, IN. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery in Vevay, Ind.
