Manetta (Oliver) Mead, 77, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at Hancock Regional Hospice. She was born on Dec. 28, 1936, in Waldron, Ind., as the daughter of Edward and Lela (Sink) Oliver. She graduated from Indiana Central Business College. She married Anthony Mead on Sept. 19, 1959, in Maxwell, Ind.

She enjoyed being a mother and a housewife. Mrs. Mead was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church for over 50 years.  She loved her dogs and bird watching.

Manetta is survived by her husband, Anthony Mead of Greenfield; children, Angela (Curtis) Kent of Fountaintown, Brian (Dana) Mead of McCordsville, Craig Mead of Greenfield and Deanna (John) Hobbs of New Palestine; brother, Ralph Oliver of Markleville, Ind.; sisters, Linda (Terry) McKenney of Pendleton, Kay Morris of Greenfield and Sharon McPherson of McCordsville; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lela (Sink) Oliver; and brother, Jerry Oliver.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014,  at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation. Reverend Janet Tiebert will be officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Greenfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Greenfield – Hancock County Animal Management, 809 S. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
