Robert W. Colwell, 88, of Indianapolis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, July 23, 2014. He was born Jan. 23, 1926, in Westland, Ind., to the late Charles B. and Lillian E. Smith Colwell. Bob served his country in the Army during WWII. He married Mildred Dowdy, Aug. 19, 1954, and she preceded him in death, December 24, 1995.
Bob was a dedicated Laboratory Technician for Eli Lilly & Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1988 and was a longtime member of Calvary Tabernacle where he served as an usher.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Shirley Brothers Thompson Road Chapel, 3333 E. Thompson Road, and Monday, July 28, 2014, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Calvary Tabernacle, 902 Fletcher Ave.
Bob is survived by his loving daughters, Sue Ellen McKinney (Simon Ward) and Joyce Elaine Neace; nine grandchildren, Nicole Love, Leah Kelley, Jana Davis (Neil), BreAnn Waters, Pamela Thomas, Sharon Thomas, Kenneth Thomas (Jamie), Alyson Thomas and Kandi Diffie; nine great- grandchildren; brother, David L. Colwell (Shirley).
He is preceded in death by stepson, William E. Thomas; two brothers, Charles S. Colwell and John E. Colwell; and a sister, Mary Jane Masters.
