Clyde Lee Wright, 86, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, at Springhurst Health Campus. He was born on Jan. 3, 1928, in Linton, Ind., as the son of Clyde Leon and Beulah Wright. He graduated from Linton High School in 1945. Mr. Wright received his college diploma from DeVry Tech in Chicago, in 1949. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Marianne (Harmon) on April 24, 1949.
He worked for Allison GMC for 33 years before retiring in 1986. Mr. Wright was a member of Trinity Park United Methodist Church, American Legion, Greenfield Lions Club, and Elks Lodge No. 1720. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, working in his garden, and spending time with his grandkids.
Clyde is survived by his sons, Stan (Susan) Wright and Clayton (Mary) Wright both of Greenfield; daughters, Jennifer (Aad Brugman) Wright of Morgantown and Kimberly (Andy) Haldrup of Carmel; brother, George Wright of Texas; nine grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne (Harmon) Wright; mother, Beulah Parks; father, Clyde Leon Wright and sister, Margaret Ann Simpson.
A memorial gathering will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will be held immediately following the memorial gathering. Reverend Mike Manning will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Greenfield Lions Club, c/o Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140 envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
