Rose Ann Adkins, 87, of Knightstown passed away on Tuesday June 10, 2014.  She was born December 31, 1926, a daughter of Oscar and Bertha Hood.

Lover of life and people, Rose Ann was a self proclaimed “life of the party”, a true inspiration to all who knew her. She was dedicated to her Catholic faith, and loved children – whether you belonged to her or not. She loved birds, Word Seek & Find puzzles – to keep her memory sharp, Soap Operas on CBS, and humor – she loved a good joke – dirty or clean. She also enjoyed iced mocha coffee drinks that she affectionately referred to as her “chocolate” drink, shopping at Goodwill, any sale that allowed her to “wheel and deal” and always kept those wheels turning on her car. These are just a few things that made her who she was and gave life to the spunk and tenacity that was Rose Ann.

She lived with a faith in God that is admirable, an independence that is desirable, a heart that is honorable and a personality that is delectable. This is not “good-bye” but “till we meet again”. You will forever be in our hearts and never-ever forgotten. We love you.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Monta (Mike) Riggs and Marion (Kathy) Adkins; grandchildren, Jeff (Lara) Riggs, Ann Marie (Anthony) Darling, Amy (Shawn) Brown, Jennifer (Kenton) Dixon, Katrina (Ron) Weddle; a brother: Tony Hood; sister, Theresa Noah; nine great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Marion Adkins, Jr.; siblings, Bill Hood, Bob Hood, John Thomas Hood, Agnes Florence, Rita Benjamin and Mildred Noel.

In celebration of her life, viewing will be 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday June 12, 2014, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday June 13, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rushville with burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery.
