Dennis L. Burke, 59, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at his residence while he slept. He was born on April 22, 1955, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, as the son of Lowell Oscar and Martha Ruth (Bowman) Burke. He graduated from Covington High School in 1973. Dennis received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
He was a self-employed and self-made business man and entrepreneur in every facet. Dennis was a very devoted family man and loved his dogs. He enjoyed listening to music, reading, discussing politics and would even enjoy a good debate. He loved all sports and even participated in the Little 500 a couple of years at Indiana University. Dennis had a larger than life attitude and when he took an interest in something or was given a task to complete, he approached it with a ferocity and determinedness that was unparalleled.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Janet Howard of Greenfield; son, Darius Burke of Greenfield; father, Lowell Burke of Covington, Ind.; brothers, Don (Sandi) Burke of St. Joseph, Ill. and Dean (Kristy) Burke of Covington, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ruth (Bowman) Burke.
Visitation will be from 4- 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Ind.
