Verle George Pearcy, 83, of Scottsburg, Indiana, died on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on June 12, 1930, in Zenus, Indiana, the son of the late George A. and Alma Merle (Grinstead) Pearcy. He is a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Verle was married on March 28, 1951, to the former Doris M. Jamison.

He started in banking at Westport, Indiana, then moved to North Vernon and Knightstown, before coming to Scott County State Bank where he was the former President of the Bank. He then became President of Fairmount State Bank retiring after 7 years at that position. Verle was a member of the Scottsburg First Christian Church, member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was former President and member of the Indiana Banker's Association, member and former President of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club, former board member for the Scott County Community Foundation and a former Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball Coach.

Survivors include his wife, Doris M. Pearcy; son, Scott Pearcy (Leah) of Perry, Georgia; daughter, Luann Caudell (Stanley Brown) of Scottsburg, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer), Matthew (Tara), Ciera and Kayla Pearcy, Elizabeth Jones (Eric), Treyton Caudell, Michael, Kerri and Craig Brewer and Beau Cass and nine great -grandchildren, Kegan and Isabelle Brewer, Alexys, Konner, Bennett and Mattie Pearcy, Gavin and Dylan Jones and Branson Cass.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Pearcy; sister, Wanda Dixon and a great -granddaughter, Jazlyn Pearcy.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, and after 10 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014.  Memorial Contributionscan be made to his church, Boy Scouts Troop 7 or Scott County Community Foundation c/o Collins Funeral Home.
