Lora Jane Turner, 74, of Shirley, passed away Tuesday morning, June 3, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Kirksville, Mo., the daughter of the late Leo Smith and Nellie (McCarty) Vance.
Jane retired from the Unites States Postal Service after many years of service. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a wonderful mother and housewife and friend to many. Her passion was spending time with her two grandchildren, Madelynne and Aiden, watching baseball, basketball and softball.
Survivor include her husband, Donald “Dave” Turner; son, Blake (Heather) Turner of Shirley; sister, Serita Murphy of Miss.; brother, Clifford (Patricia) Smith of Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leo Jr. Smith and Rickie Smith.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Condo and Son Funeral home in Wilkinson, Ind., with Dan Jones officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
