Judith E. (Ratliff) Butcher, 73, of Fortville, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in Indianapolis. She was born July 28, 1940, in Anderson, to the late Clifford and Mary Helen (Hoehamer) Leighton.
Judy was a member of the Fortville Christian Church and had been a Rainbow Leader and assistant leader for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She retired in 1994 from Ft. Benjamin Harrison Finance and Accounting Center as a military pay clerk.
Judy is survived by children, Elizabeth (Randy) Valentine of Fortville, James D. Ratliff of Indianapolis, Douglas A. (Linda) Ratliff of Brownsburg, Michael E. Ratliff of Cincinnati, Charles B. Butcher of Madison, W.V., Jamie (Jerry) Ball of Danville, W.V.; six grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, James T. Butcher; brother, Morris Leighton and sister, Anita Leighton.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A graveside celebration of Judy’s life will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
