Ken Vetters, 89, of Greenfield, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 15, 2014. He was born at home in Hancock County to John C. and Mary E. Vetters on Sept. 28, 1924.

He was a veteran of WWII, and attended Asbury College, where he met and married Mary Elizabeth Davis of Detroit, Mich. After obtaining a seminary degree, they served seven years as missionaries in Indonesia. They then served United Methodist Churches in Bicknell, Brookville, Avon, and Columbus, Ind. In 1991, he retired to the farm he was born on and served in ministry at Trinity Park United Methodist Church (UMC) in Greenfield.

He is survived by his wife, of 63 years; children, Cynthia (John) Lanning, Charles (Debi) Vetters, Timothy (Diane) Vetters, and Daniel (Jill) Vetters; and 11 surviving grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan and his sister, Mildred Applegate.

Friends may call from 2-5 p.m.  Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Trinity Park UMC, 207 W. Park Ave., Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral services will be from 11 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Trinity Park, with burial to follow at Mt. Lebanon UMC Cemetery.
