Malcolm D. Vaught, 89, Anderson, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was born on June 24, 1924, in Dugger, Ind., to Con and Grace (Burris) Vaught. He was a Navy veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his wife, of 23 years, Helen Vaught; two sons, Michael (Noraleen) Vaught and Phillip Vaught both of Anderson; three stepsons, Michael (Tere) Gilmour of Pittsboro, Brent (Lori) Gilmour of Englewood, Colo., and Steve (Pamela) Gilmour of Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his sons’ mother, Phyllis Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Melba Dunder and a son, Terry Vaught.

Visitation was from 3- 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. A funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Bill Carver officiating. A graveside service with military honors was held in Dugger Cemetery at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014.
