Lloyd D. “Rocky” Cole, 87, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at his residence. He was born on March 28, 1927, in Vevay, Ind., as the son of Clint and Mayme (LeClerc) Cole. He served in the Army during WWII which sent him to France, Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium and Germany. He then married Wilna E. (Grubbs) on Nov. 13, 1947, in Greenfield.

Rocky worked as a self-employed Marketer in the automotive industry for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and Park Chapel Christian Church. He enjoyed sports and semi-pro softball and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was deeply devoted to his family and loved a good joke.

Rocky is survived by his loving wife, of 66 years, Wilna Cole of Greenfield; daughter, Lynn (Bob) Pepperworth of Greenfield; sons, Doug (Claudia McGee) Cole of Indianapolis, Tracey (Susie) Cole of Noblesville, Barry (Nancy) Cole of Greenfield; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Mayme Cole; six brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, Indiana. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation, beginning at 4 p.m.  Pastor David Woods will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hancock County Boys and Girls Club, 715 E Lincoln St, Greenfield, IN 46140.
