Marilyn Ann (Atherton) Kleiman, 70, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 26, 2014. She was born on May 8, 1943, in Marion County, as the daughter of Horace and Loraine (Lasley) Atherton. She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1961. She married Gerald William Kleiman on Dec. 16, 1962.

Marilyn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she served on many committees; and was a volunteer Poll Worker in Sugar Creek Township for many years. She was a 4-H Leader in Hancock County for over 20 years, where she valued her impact on local youth. She also spent many years judging various 4-H projects in counties throughout Indiana. Marilyn enjoyed many crafts and began her own business venture, Angels Plus, with her sister, creating and selling crafts. She valued spending time with her grandchildren and going to their games and activities. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends traveling, going to dinner and playing cards.  Marilyn was able to enjoy many memorable vacations with her husband of 51 years.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Kleiman of New Palestine; mother, Loraine Atherton of Greenfield; children, Brian (Marcy) Kleiman of Greenfield, Darrin (Bernadette) Kleiman of New Palestine and Tricia (Michael) Hanaway of Denver, Ind.; sister, Pam (Jay) Komendo of New Palestine; nephews, Lou (Marcy) Sitter of Greenwood and Mike Sitter of Corbin, KY; and grandchildren, Bryce, Jocelyn, Malerie, Sarah, Emily, and Audrey Kleiman, Jacob, Connor and Zane Hanaway.

She was preceded in death by her father, Horace Atherton.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 W. 300 S., New Palestine, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, also at the church with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jason Taylor will be officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in New Palestine.
