Raymond Hackney Sr., 84, of Danville passed away March 28, 2014. He was born May 4, 1929, to the late Harry and Bessie Hackney in Port Norris, NJ. Raymond married the love of his life, Sharla Lynn Hackney on July 18, 1969.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharla of Danville; four sons, Glen (Terri) Hackney of Hoopsten,Ill., Raymond Hackney Jr. (Janet) of Greenfield, Jeffrey (Yvette) Hackney of Danville, Paul (Janice) Hackney of Ashland City, Tenn.; daughter, Danita Hackney of Danville; three sisters, Dorothy Patitucci of Bridgeton, N.J., Emma Godown of Dividing Creek, N.J., Shirley Aulffo of Vineland, NJ.; brother-in-law; 33 grandchildren; 62 great- grandchildren; five great- great- grandchildren.
Raymond is preceded in death by his loving parents; son, Michael Earl Hackney; two sisters, Alice Elizabeth Kurek, Myrtle Schwegel; two brothers, Harry Samuel Hackney Jr., Armour Hackney; one sister-in-law; five brother-in-laws.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on March 31, 2014. Funeral services held at 11 a.m. for all on April 1, 2014, and burial will immediately follow in New Palestine Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hendryx Mortuary Cumberland Chapel.
