Lois R. (Norman) Hegdahl, 81, of McCordsville, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at her residence. She was born on June 26, 1932, in Chicago, as the daughter of Arthur William and Ruth Amelia (Iversen) Norman.

She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1950, and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She married Andrew Nels Hegdahl on July 13, 1957, in Indianapolis. They enjoyed 56 years together as husband and wife.

Lois’s main priority was being a homemaker and caring for her family. She also worked for Tuttle’s Apple Orchard, was a camp counselor for Camp Fire Girls and previously worked at LS Ayres as a cashier. Lois was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mohawk, for 53 years. Prior to attending Grace Baptist, she attended Hope Church in Indianapolis. Lois was a Sunday School teacher, Jr. leader, pianist, and a ladies fellowship leader. She really loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, nature walks, cooking, watching football, basketball and golf, swimming, singing, and playing piano.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew Hegdahl; son, Arthur Andrew (Ruth) Hegdahl of Indianapolis; daughters, Dorothy Lois (Robert B.) Gerhart of Geigertown, Pa., Laura Ruth (Lee) Nupson of Cass Lake, Minn. and Carla June (Victor) Dudley of Vancouver, Wash.; sisters, Carolyn Hunt and Janet Miller. Lois had 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ruth Norman; and an infant sister, Carol.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Grace Baptist Church of Mohawk, 4245 N. 200 W., Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation. Pastor Stephen Elmer will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
