Jerry D. Frazier, 77, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, at Community Hospital South. He was born on Jan. 30, 1937, in Greenfield, as the son of Jack and Madge (Murphy) Frazier. He attended Maxwell High School. He served in the National Guard. He married Carol Jeanne (Holmes) on Jan. 1, 1956.
Jerry worked for Murphy’s Mobile and Turner Automotive in Greenfield as a mechanic. He enjoyed horse racing, raising homing pigeons, competing in harness racing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He used to race swim dogs with the team name Frazier’s Water Race Dogs. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Frazier of Greenfield; children, Doug Frazier of Greenfield, Dana (Tim) Hughes and Jodi Martin of Indianapolis; brothers, Jack Frazier, Jeff Frazier, and Jon Frazier; sisters, Ann Robbins and Lynn Fields; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Christa) Pike, Jessica (Russell) McDonald, Casey (Derrick) Pierce, Katie Hughes and Nikki Hughes; five great-grandchildren, Zach McDonald, Olivia McDonald, Jase Pike, Taylor Evans, Kaylee Pierce; and one great -great-grandchild, Kyson McDonald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Madge Frazier; sister, Barbara Kiser.
Visitation will be from 4- 7 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation. Pastor Ira Scott will be officiating.
