Gregory Sharon Grimes, 65, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. He was born on Oct. 30, 1948, in Danville, Ill., to the late Russell Sharon and Marjorie Jean (Ephlin) Grimes.
He graduated from Turkey Run High School, in Marshall, Ind., in 1966. Mr. Grimes received a degree in chemistry from Purdue University in 1971. He worked for Indiana State Chemist’s office for 10 years. He retired after 28 years as a toxicologist from Eli Lilly and Company. He enjoyed family, photography, hunting, computers, cars and music. He was a kind, thoughtful, loving man. He was a member of Trinity Park United Methodist Church.
Gregory is survived by his wife, of 38 years, Nancy Sue (Proctor) of Greenfield; son, Richard (Sarah) Grimes of Lafayette; daughters, Diana (Uday) Shinde of Charleston, Ill., and Jennifer (Robert) Jordan of Greenfield; five grandchildren, David, Daniel, and Hannah Jordan and Abira and Shahina Shinde.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob William Grimes.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Trinity Park United Methodist Church in Greenfield with viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Rev. Michael Manning will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
