George D. Copp, Sr., 80, of Greenfield, passed away at his home on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014. He was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Indianapolis, to the late George and Gladys (Williams) Copp.

George served in the Army in Greenland during the Korean War and was the former owner of Copp’s Refrigeration as well as Ice Cream Plus in Lapel. He was an outgoing person, an avid R/C model airplane enthusiast and member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He also attended Missionary Free Christian Church.

He is survived by his son, George D. (Sheryl) Copp of Spring Harbor, Mich.; daughters, Linda (Jim) Nolte of Fortville, Cindy (Vernon) Long of Greenfield and Sandra (Rick) Wilson of Fortville; 10 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; sisters,  RuthAnn (George) Peace of Greenfield, Patty (Frank) Kilburn of McCordsville, and Gloria (Ron) Phillips of Indianapolis.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon L. Copp in 2007 and sisters, Sylvia Ishmael and Jeanine Standeford.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A Celebration of George’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
