Elizabeth Dena (Kleyn) Plummer, 94, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 18, 1919, in Marion County, Ind., as the daughter of John and Anna (Dewitt) Kleyn. She graduated from Southport High School. She married Raymond Lloyd Plummer on May 18, 1942.

Besides being a homemaker, Elizabeth was a wonderful wife and mother. Elizabeth worked as a supervisor over cafeteria staff at Eli Lilly during WWII. She also worked for Hancock County Soil and Water Office, Health Education and Welfare. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church for many years. She was a first generation American, born of immigrant parents from Holland and had to learn to speak English when she went to school. Her smile made her the friend of many.

Elizabeth enjoyed painting and writing poetry. She was awarded several awards during Riley Days where she participated in Poets on the Podium. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was elected to serve on the Brandywine Twp. Board until she retired.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Plummer; children, Linda (David) Pressley of Terre Haute, Deborah Romoser of Indianapolis, Sandra (Roger) Hall and Philip (Jeanne) Plummer both of Greenfield; nine grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; sister, Dena Van Heyningen of Holland, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Kleyn; sisters, Hattie Fischer of Holland, Mich., Hazel Kleyn of Indianapolis and brothers, Sebastian (Bus) Kleyn from Indianapolis and Harry Kleyn from Wanamaker, Ind.

Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Washington Park East in Indianapolis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. Ind. 9, Greenfield, Indiana 46140.
