Betty J. (Humbles) Dunlavy, 92, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born on July 20, 1921, in Indianapolis, as the daughter of Forrest and Alice (Knapp) Humbles. She graduated from Eden High School in 1939, and then married Ed Dunlavy on Oct. 20, 1940 in Fortville.

Betty was a devoted housewife who helped her husband with the family dairy farming in Pendleton and Hancock County for 38 years.

She is survived by her son, Dick (Ruth) Dunlavy of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Debbie (Dan) Craig of Greenfield; five grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren and brothers, Clarence (Janet) Humbles and Jack Humbles, both of Knightstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Dunlavy; parents, Forrest Humbles and Alice Humbles; sister, Martha Perkins Mitchell; brother, Gene Humbles; and her stepmother, Thelma Humbles.

Visitation will be held from 5 -8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, also at the mortuary. Rev. James Jones and Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
