Betty Jean Jordan, 78, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, in Greenfield. She was born in Evansville, Ind., on Nov. 11, 1935. Betty was the daughter of Alvin C. and Opel M. (Daugherty) Jones.

She graduated from Reitz High School in Evansville. She worked in Evansville and Indianapolis prior to moving to Greenfield in 1979. Betty retired from Greenfield Banking Company in 1997. She was a faithful member of Bradley United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation (Legacy Circle) and the Hancock County Community Foundation (Community Development Endowment). She enjoyed travel, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Betty is survived by her husband, of 15 years, Dr. Charles E. Jordan; son, Brian (Jane) Gibbons, Greenwood; three stepchildren, David W. (Nancy) Jordan of Naperville, Ill., Pamela J. Yoder of Dallas, Jennifer J. (Kevin) Pickett of Carmel; eight stepgrandchildren, Molly Jordan of Naperville, Ill., Charles W. Jordan of New York, N.Y., Madeline Jordan of Naperville, Ill., Olivia Yoder of Bloomington, Ind., Benton Yoder of Kennesaw, Ga., Claire Pickett of West Lafayette, Ind., Ethan Pickett of Carmel, and Andrew Pickett of Carmel and nieces, Kalah Farmer, Nancy Black and Lisa Sloan and brother-in-law, Clinton Kuhn.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Kuhn and former spouse James H. Abney.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Bradley United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 with Pastor Wade Compton officiating. Friends may call from 5 – 8p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the church and again one hour prior to service on Wednesday. Burial will follow services at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to the Bradley United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 210 West Main St., Greenfield, IN 46140; the Dr. Charles and Betty Jordan Community Development Endowment, Hancock County Community Foundation, 312 East Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or the Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation, Hospice Unit, 801 North State St., Greenfield, IN 46140.
