John W. Settle, 81, of Fortville, passed away on Feb. 4, 2014, at Prairie Lakes Health Campus, Noblesville. He was born on Oct. 17, 1932, in Corydon, Ind., to the late John A. and Sophia M. (Wyant) Settle and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes and Butler University.
He worked as a department chief for Western Electric, AT &T at Indianapolis Works. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Cushman Club of America. John was a true people person and loved animals, sales and auctions. He was a part-time farmer and a long-time member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
John is survived by his sister, Clara Gene Thomson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 59 years, Rosalie A. Settle; sister, Marianna Thompson and brother, Robert Settle.
A celebration of John’s life will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel, Fortville where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
