James Patterson Barrett, 74, of Byram, Miss., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in Miss. He was born on Dec. 31, 1939, in Greenfield, the son of Willard E. and Tobitha (Oakerson) Barrett. James graduated from Greenfield High School in 1958. He proudly served his country in the Army.
He worked for Roll Coater in Greenfield and later retired as a Plant Manager at Precoat Metals in Jackson, Miss.
He is survived by his stepson, Brad (Amber) Osswald of Arcadia; brothers, Willard (Nancy) Stevensville, Mich., Dave (Kathy) Barrett of Greenfield; and sisters, June McDole of Greenfield, Sandra Beckley of Noblesville.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield, with calling two hours prior, beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Russ Jarvis will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Boys and Girls Club, 715 E. Lincoln St. Greenfield, IN 46140.
