Myrtle R. Martin, 100, of Greenfield, formerly of Fortville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Kindred Transitional Care in Greenfield.  She was born Feb. 11, 1913 in Hamilton County to the late John B. and Gertie (Stein) Wyant.

She attended Bethlehem Grade School and Fortville High School. She assembled manuscripts for Goble Printing Co. for 12 years and was also a member of Eden Order of Eastern Star #101 since 1944 and Kennard Brother & Sisterhood. She joined Bethlehem United Brethren Church early in life and transferred to Eden United Methodist Church in 1946.

Myrtle is survived by loving cousins, caring neighbors, many faithful friends, and special friends, Bob and Jean Denny.

She was preceded in death by husband Dale M. Martin, to whom she was married for 69 years. They lived on a farm near Fortville, for 45 years before moving to Greenfield. She farmed along with her husband, was also a homemaker and seamstress. She enjoyed gospel music and sang with her father at many church services. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roy M. Wyant.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel, Fortville. A celebration of Myrtle’s life will begin there at 1 p.m.
