Vesta O. Ellison, 91, of Shirley, passed away Jan. 1, 2014, after a short illness. She was born on March 13, 1922, to John and Bessie Helderbrand in Carter County, Ky.
She is survived by daughter, Kathy (Jim) Tallent; son, Rick Ellison; sister, Bethel Loftis; and brother, Alan Helderbrand; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Versie of 61 years. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Paul and Wayne; 4 sisters and 7 brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, with the funeral to follow at the Liming Family Funeral Home located at 306 Main Street in Shirley, Ind., with Reverend Josh Johnson officiating. Burial to follow at the Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle, Ind.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations made to Riley Children's Foundation, St. Jude Research Hospital or the Salvation Army.
