Mary Mildred Sitler, 92, of Frankfort, Ind., formerly of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at Clinton House in Frankfort, Ind. She was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Groveland, Ind., the daughter of James Earl and Viola Jo (Timmons) Sutherlin.

Mildred was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and Indiana University where she met her husband. She taught several years at Kennard and Knightstown Elementary Schools and was a member of the Avon Club and Tri Kappa. Mildred was a longtime member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church where she was active in the women’s association. She had lived and traveled throughout the world as a military wife and enjoyed oil painting and gardening. She also enjoyed sharing her love of literature with her grandchildren.

She is survived by six children, Alice Cleveland of Frankfort, David (Lorraine) Sitler of Midlothian, Va., Daniel (Jane) Sitler of Covington, Ohio, Robert (Donna) Sitler of Indianapolis, Joseph (Amanda) Sitler of New Palestine and Christopher (Penny) Sitler of Knightstown; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Evelyn) Sutherlin of Acworth, Ga.; a sister, Francis Waddle of Greenwood; a brother-in-law, William (Mary Ann) Sitler of Knightstown.

In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Oliver Sitler; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Sitler; and eight siblings.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of service. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Glen Cove Cemetery.
