Maurice Eugene Boring, 97, passed away Dec. 15, 2013. Gene was born in Shelby County in July 11, 1916, to Burl Edward and Bessie Miller Boring.
Gene spent a lifetime in Shelby County farming, land that has been in the Boring family since 1852 following in his ancesters foofsteps, and graduating from Moral Twp High School in 1934. Gene was a 60 year member of Carrollton United Methodist Church and also a 50 year director of Shelby County Farm Bureau.
Gene is survived by two sons, Phillip E (Janice) and Gary L (Karyl) Boring; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife, Bernice Lantz Boring in 1993; a daughter, Kay S Harmes; a brother, Marvin; and sister, Tabitha Cooper.
Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Hendryx Mortuary New Palestine Chapel with a service at 11a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at New Palestine Cemetery.
