Elmer J. Kline, 88, of Carthage, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Kindred Healthcare in Greenfield. He was born June 4, 1925, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late George Washington and Emma Lee (Mauck) Kline.
Elmer retired from the Container Corporation of America in Carthage in 1993 following over 50 years of service. A member of the Kennard Baptist Church, he enjoyed mowing his lawn and spending time outdoors. He was also an avid IU fan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 65 years, Mildred G. Kline, whom he married Sept. 17, 1948; four sons, Rex A. (Cathy) Kline of Knightstown, E. Joe (Nancy) Kline of Greenfield, Russell (Sharon) Kline of Carthage, and Jeff (Shelly) Kline of Knightstown; eight grandchildren, Chad A. (Stacey) Kline of Knightstown, Corey Ann (Aaron) Estelle of Anderson, Cody A. (Mary) Kline of Greenfield, Cathryn Ashley Kline of Greenfield, Shandon and Shayla Kline, both of Carthage, Jordan and Ciara Kline, both of Knightstown; seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Kline; five brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at the funeral home.
