Harold J. Hardin, 100, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born Dec. 23, 1912, in Hancock County, the son of Banton and Eunice (Gardner) Hardin.

Harold graduated from Westland High School in Hancock County in 1930, received his teaching degree from Central Normal College and obtained his master's degree from Butler University.

On May 30, 1937, he married his wife of 76 years, Helen M. Bever, and she survives.

He was a member of Morristown Christian Church and the Retired Teachers Association.

Mr. Hardin was a former school teacher, coach, counselor and Elementary School Principal. He taught the fundamentals and was very passionate about coaching.  Mr. Hardin had taught at Arlington, Carthage, Greenfield and retired from Morristown in 1979. After retirement, he pursued a career in real estate and owned Hardin Real Estate.

He enjoyed athletic events, golfing and farming.  Most of all, he loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

Other survivors include his son, Phillip Hardin of Morristown; daughter, Sara (Phil) Stout of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Stephanie (Dwayne) Kirstein, Jennifer (Luke) Stout, Christina Stout and Phillip J. (Lindsey) Stout; great-grandchildren, Bryce , Brynna, and Brylie Kirstein, Ashlynn and Addison Stout, Ella and Parker Stout; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Bob Hardin; brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Barbara Hardin; and sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Harold Bass.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, and from 10:30 – 11 a.m, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Morristown Christian Church, 209 S. Washington St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Rev. Jim Coyle, Pastor Fred Hickman and Bill Farmer officiating.

Interment will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington, IN.

Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
