Melvin R. Brown, 72, Milan, died at 10:50 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Ripley Crossing in Milan. He was born on July 4, 1941, in Clinton County, Ky., the son of Luther Melvin and Sarah Pearl (Ferrell) Brown.

He lived his childhood in Kentucky before moving to Indiana. He retired in 2000 from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church and National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed playing music, hunting, fishing, Civil War History and reading. He married Naomi “Kim” Rork in Indianapolis on Aug. 11, 1972, and she preceded him in death on June 5, 2009.

Survivors include his sons, Scott E. Stout of Greenfield, Loren (Kathy) Brown of Milan and Randy (Valerie) Brown of Greenfield; his sisters, Edith Rance of Greenwood, Cindy Royer of Lebanon, Jantis “Gay” Findley of Indianapolis, Gloria “Jean” Andrus of Avon and Robin Alexander of Fort Myers, Fla.; her brothers, Johnny Brown of Semmes, Ala., Alvin Brown of Daytona, Fla., Glenn Brown of Greenfield, Ron Brown of Clermont and James Brown of Horse Cave, Ky.; his 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Burial at Westport Cemetery.
