Charles Douglas Smith, 78, of New Palestine, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013. He was born on March 7, 1935, in Edmonton, Ky., the son of Charlie and Tina (Froedge) Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frieda Smith; son, Ronald Smith; stepchildren, Dan Bagby Sr. and Deressa Smith; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Marshall Smith; and three sisters, Geneva Cary, Faye Freeman and Linda Thompson.
Charles was preceded in death by his son, Derek Smith.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at 10 a.m. also at the mortuary. Dr. Wayne Scott will be officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 323 S. Washington St. Morristown, IN 46161.
