James “Jim” T. McCubbins, Jr.
James “Jim” T. McCubbins, Jr., 87, of Lawrence, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Lawrence Manor. He was born July 12, 1926, in Louisville, Ky. the son of James Thomas and Pearl Marie (Decker) McCubbins.
He served in the Navy during WW II. Jim served on the USS Piranha Submarine which is now stationed in Hawaii.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Millie; children, Steve McCubbins of Bean Blossom, Martha (J.R.) Pence of Plainfield, Phyllis (Dave) McIntyre of Lawrence, and Shirley McCubbins of Indianapolis; sister Barbara Caruso of Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Marie McCubbins; brother, Ralph “Eddie” McCubbins; one great-grandson; and twin infant great great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, also at the mortuary. Pastor Gary Scott will be officiating. Burial with full military rites to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
