Darrell W. Thurston, 75, of New Castle, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at his home. He was born July 19, 1938, in Monticello, Ky., a son of the late Murl J. and Flora Mae (Clark) Thurston.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 53 years, Beverly D. (Hardgrove) Thurston, whom he married July 3, 1960; two children, Stephen (Shawn) Thurston of New Castle and Donna Young (Mike Prenatt) of Wilkinson; three grandchildren; two sisters, Louise (Thurston) Carter of New Castle and Murlene Pyles of Monticello, Ky.; four brothers, John (Betty) Thurston of New Castle, Jimmie Thurston of New Castle, Gene Thurston of Greenfield, and Glen (Barbara) Thurston of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rhonda Jo Thurston; a sister, Alene Thurston; a brother, Kenneth Thurston, and 1 grandson.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will take place at 8 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
