James “Jim” L. Hall

James “Jim” L. Hall, 69, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. He was born on Aug. 12, 1944, in Indianapolis, the son of Marvin and Marcella (Butts) Hall.

He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1962. Mr. Hall also attended Indiana Central and IUPUI. He married Carmen (Swain) Hall on June 20, 1964, in Finly, Ind.

He worked for Eli Lilly in research for many years. For the past fifteen years, Jim was the owner of Outdoor Management Services in Finly. Jim was a member of Greenfield Christian Church, Eden Masonic Lodge, Morristown Eastern Star, Greenfield Kiwanis Club and was also a Murat Shriner. He was also a former member of the State Democrat Committee, District Democratic Chair, Hancock County Democrat Chair, Brandywine Township Trustee, past President of Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation, past member and supporter of the Fountaintown Fire Department, member of the State Ethics Commission, Board member of the Indiana Employees Credit Union, Riley Wrangler’s Square Dance Club and Director of the New Palestine Youth Baseball League.

Jim received a Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Orr. Jim was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed fishing in Canada and Lake Erie. He has been to the Arctic Circle twice. In his younger years, he enjoyed coon and deer hunting. Jim liked going to the Indy 500 and enjoyed NASCAR. He was an Indianapolis Colts and Pacers fan. For the past thirteen years, he had season tickets for the Colts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carmen Hall of Greenfield; daughter, Wendi Hall of Indianapolis; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Karnes of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren, Cierra, Jesi, and Joey Hall.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Marcella Hall; son, Matthew “Matt” Hall; and granddaughter, Miranda Sue Hall.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, also at the mortuary. Frank Everett will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
